Does anybody know where to get an economically priced radiofor a boomer? I checked at the local dealer and they want about$350. Thanks for your input.

IMHO,I've seen/used (someone elses) those tractor radios, and I'm very unimpressed for the money.I would rather spend my money on one of those $50-150 yellow water resistant radios,that sound much better anyway and have a shock resistant cd and/or tape decks. Mount it or NICELY hang it from the top of the ROPS. To save on Batteries,I would also invest in a ($10-$15) 12v power adapter for the radio. Maybe not asclean of a mount or pretty, but a radio mounted between the ROPS sounds MUCH better than thosecrappy little tractor radio speakers on the side fender. ....

Where do you guys find all these neat accessories for Boomers? I just boughta 1925, but am totally in the dark about what accessories are available for itand my dealer doesn't seem to know either. ....

Have had two of the fender type radios (the first one was replaced by as defective). They are not much. I gave up and use a sony compact headset. It works great, has antenna on headset which makes a big difference. ....

Was thinking about trying a noise canceling headset. With tractor noise being so constant I think it would be a good application. Does anyone have any experience with them?DennisPS - Several companies can provide them, try this link. ....

Dennis,I Have a cheap set, they aren't worth 2 cents more than any other set i've used.My Parents have a Quality (pricey) pair, and seem to have much improved the sound quality.I am assuming partially due to the Cancellation effect. This is hard to measure becauseit is designed to lessen any noise, but we all know that 100% elimination is impossible.I think you will be disappointed with this feature on a tractor, but it may help. Assuming they are only slightly higher priced, I would probably still opt for them. But I think you will see the biggest benefit from a pair that has the large rubber typeear surrounds, instead of the foam type. Normally used on the small, cheap sets.Stay away from those little nubbie types, not only are they a pain in the A^&, but theywere partially & purposely designed to allow outside noises from entering. This is usefulif your wife is calling for dinner, while you are listening to music. Volume is the only 100%way I know of, to truely cancel sound. Of, Course it can cancel your hearing as well.FYI, all earsets concentrate the sound waves directly into your ear at a more intenselevel than normal. 85db at 1 hour, I think is the threshhold of ear damage. Unlike surroundingnoises, 85db from earsets isn't very hard to achieve. ....

I have a set of Sony NC20 headsets that my wife bought me at a Service Merchandise Treasure Quest outlet for around $90.00 I use them when I get on the riding mower or bushog with my Deere 5200. I love them. They don't eliminate the noise, but they reduce it dramatically. That Deere and rotary cutter make a racket at 2400 rpm, but with the headsets and some Eagles or Doobie Brothers, I hardly notice. The time also flys! ....
